ABOUT THE ARTIST
With over 15 years in traditional sign painting, Lance Corlett's reinterprets historic techniques through a contemporary lens. His art has been exhibited at galleries including Saint Cloche, & his sign painting has been commissioned by brands such as Aesop and R.M. Williams.
Fabrication
Each piece is made-to-order locally in Sydney using gallery-grade materials. We take our prints really seriously - we’ve carefully selected these fabrications for how closely they replicate the original works.
Fine Art Paper
Paper artworks are printed on a premium 320 gsm cotton rag fine art paper. They have a beautiful weight to them with a subtle, softly textured finish that gives the artwork a real sense of depth while still maintaining sharp details. Certified acid-free for longevity. Includes a white border around the artwork to allow for the option of a mat board when framing.
Canvas
Printed on a premium 350gsm cotton/polyester blend, our archival fine art canvas offers an incredible image sharpness & a texture that so remarkably replicates the original works. Canvas prints include a mirrored edge around the artwork, allowing the canvas to be stretched over a frame & while preserving the full image.
Steady Store fine art prints are either limited edition, or open edition & available for a limited time.

We're focusing on a print-only offering currently. We will only ever sell gallery-quality pieces, & at this stage, we are unable to offer accessible price points on framing without compromising on materials or craftsmanship.

All artworks are produced in standard A-series sizing (unless otherwise stated), making it easy to source ready-made frames to suit your space & style.

Canvas Artworks
Canvas works are delivered unstretched & rolled in a protective tube. These will need to be stretched & framed for display by a local framer, or can be arranged through our bespoke framing service.

Meet the Founders
Steady Store was founded by us - traditional sign painter & visual artist Lance Corlett, & Kat, his partner in life & the one behind the scenes.
Lance’s work has been exhibited at galleries such as Saint Cloche, & his hand-painted signage has been commissioned by brands such as Aesop & R.M. Williams. Drawing on over 15 years of traditional sign painting, Lance’s art utilises heritage techniques, & applies them in a uniquely contemporary context.
Steady Store was born out of a vision to get cool more stuff on the walls of everyday homes. We wanted to create a platform to give Lance's artworks a home outside of gallery walls - making them accessible to the everyday collector.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between fine art paper or canvas?
Our fine art cotton rag paper produces crisp, gallery-quality detail with an incredible colour accuracy. All paper prints come on a generous 320gsm paper weight with a soft, subtly textured finish. Cotton rag is delicate though & to ensure longevity, should be protected behind perspex or glass in a frame. You can purchase fine art paper prints either rolled, OR framed & ready to hang.
Our canvas fabrications are a more durable option with a beautiful texture that adds another dimension to the print. They are printed on a premium 350gsm cotton/polyester blend canvas with a strong colour richness. These are available rolled, OR stretched & ready to hang, with optional framing available.
How do I choose the right artwork for my home?
There are a couple of factors to consider when choosing the perfect artwork for you.
Spacing: As a general rule of thumb, your artwork should be about 2/3 the width of the furniture it sits above.
- If there is no furniture in the space, then opt for a larger statement piece.
- For smaller artworks, we love how intentional hanging two pieces side by side can look in a space - just opt for a pair of artworks that echo each other in colour or tone for a balanced look.
- Tall or narrow spaces look perfect with a portrait or square statement piece.
As a guide, the centre of the artwork should sit at eye level (around 145–155cm from the floor), adjusting slightly higher when hanging above furniture.
Framing: Framing isn’t just protective, it can also change the visual weight of the artwork.
- Lighter frames feel more relaxed & minimal
- Darker frames create contrast & a stronger focal point
Colours: When considering colours, just remember that your artwork doesn’t need to match all of your furniture
- Look for one colour already present in the room & let the artwork echo it subtly.
- If your space is largely neutral, artwork is the easiest way to introduce a bit of colour & personality.
When in doubt: If you keep coming back to the same artwork, that’s usually the one!
How long will it take to ship my artwork?
Our prints are made to order right here in Sydney. Print-only orders will be dispatched from our warehouse within 3 - 5 business days (although often faster!).
Orders that include our bespoke framing service will need an additional 2-3 weeks to be dispatched as they are handmade for your piece.
Can you ship to PO Boxes?
To ensure every artwork ends up in the right hands, we only ship 'signature-on-delivery' & so cannot post any orders to PO boxes.
What if I change my mind?
You're in luck. We offer a 7 day change of mind store credit for full priced, non-customised artworks. They just need to be unframed & unstretched, & returned in their original condition. Store credits are valid for 3 years so you've got plenty of time to pick another piece that's perfect for you.

The most accessible price pointed solution for framing your pieces is to select a ready made frame that suits your style & space. All artworks are produced in standard A-series sizing (unless otherwise stated), making ready made frames easy to source!
If you're after a more custom finish, your local framer will be able to walk you through recommendations for frames to compliment both the artwork & your home aesthetic.

Can I frame the artworks myself?
Absolutely! Our artworks come in standard A-series sizes, unless otherwise specified, which makes ready-made framing easy for fine art paper pieces. Canvas artworks will need to be professionally stretched by your local framer before they can be hung in your home.
Where are the artworks made?
All artworks are locally made right here in Sydney, Australia. Steady Store artworks are created by Japan-born, NZ-raised & Australian-based (what a mouthful) visual artist, Lance Corlett.
What makes Lance's art so unique?
Drawing on techniques used by Australian sign painters from over a century ago, Lance’s artworks preserves historic processes that are now pretty rarely practised.
Central to this is the unique process of oil painting his subjects in reverse, & then transferring them onto the back of a piece of glass. This labour-intensive technique produces artworks that feel nostalgic & visually unexpected.
Steady Store is giving customers access to these unique pieces outside of gallery & studio walls.
